ET IN ARCADIA EGO
Baltimorean at birth, which, regardless of how long you've lived in the South, you are a Yankee. For the last 17 years I have taught to those willing to listen; Graphic Design, Photography and Internet Interface Design at Coker College in marvelous downtown HartsVegas (Hartsville, SC). A BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art in Graphic Design (now; University of the Arts), and an MFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in Graphic Design and have over 30+ years of experience in the field.
Philosophically, whether teaching, my own work or freelance;
I firmly believe that good typography is the keystone for all design.
I have, over the span of my design life, done my utmost to explore the complexities of spatial relationships created by the layering of color, texture and content found in the lithographic imagery of the past. Beyond lithographic surface, there are other influences prevalent in the work. If you look closely you will see; Kurt Schwitters, Armin Hoffman, Wolfgang Weingart, Odermatt+Tissi, Herbert Matter, Jan Tschicold, Paul Rand, Charles Rennie Macintosh, Piet Zwart, Juan Gris, Emil Nolde, Käthe Kollwitz, Oskar Kokoschka, El Lissitzky and Corbusier straining to look back.
